2011-WHAT A FANTASTIC SEASON

At the start of the 2010 season klcc set out a 5 year vision to become a force in Hertfordshire cricket. This ambition is very much on track after, arguably, the clubs greatest season ever.

At senior level, the key thing was promotion of the 1st xi. This was achieved with a game to spare and next season the club will be looking to push on again in Division 2. It has been a fantastic all round team effort with all players making key contributions at various stages, skippered by the wise! Christian James, who topped the bowling averages. But the stand out performers were Aussie Mitch Roberts and more so, Paul “junior” Ashford (pictured) who scored an incredible 824 league runs including 4 tons at an average of nearly 92! per game.

The clubs 2nd xi secured back to back promotions and will play in Div 6 next season and are confident of progressing higher up the divisions in coming years. Duane Smith was recognised as the 2’s player of the season. The 3rd team had a more inconsistent year but are well placed to attack promotion next season. Club evergreen, Roy Barter was the Player of the Season. The 4th team only just missed out on promotion and have had a great season. Turning out 4 sides week in week out is a superb achievement which the club has easily done this year. Skipper Nick Turner picked up the player of the season award for his wicket taking with his superb spinners!

Whilst the Saturday Herts league was the priority the season was topped off by a superb County Trophy Final win against Northchurch. (pictured) Due to terrible weather, the match was reduced to a 20 over bash. KLCC absolutely dominated the proceedings, fielding and bowling like never before to restrict Northchurch to a mere 89 runs. Langley knocked off the total with 5 overs to spare and only 3 wickets down with man of the match Roberts, the highest scorer with 35.

At colts level as reported in previous editions it has been a phenomenal season. This culminated in the u15 side becoming County champions for the first time (picture) beating the favourites Knebworth Park in a rearranged fixture. KLCC won by 9 wickets with Cooke and Simon Walker batting with great maturity.

So thats it for another season. At klcc we are highly ambitious, we will pause, take stock and then push on, upwards and upwards. We are excited about 2012 already so bring it on. Players and supporters are always welcome so for any information contact Kevin Rolfe at kevin.rolfe@argroup.co.uk
