COLTS SUCCESS CELEBRATED AT KLCC

On October 21st, Kings Langley Cricket Club held their annual colts awards.
This year, the club was celebrating, arguably, its most successful colts season ever.

The u9’s ,10’s, 14’s and u15’s all won their respective Herts League divisions at a canter with most boasting 100% records.
The u10 and 14’s only lost out in County final play offs whereas the u15’s went on to be crowned County champions. The u15’s also won the local 20/20 competition for the 2nd year out of the last 3.

The evening was also an opportunity to thank the many colts that train throughout the summer months on Sunday mornings and to thank the coaches who give up their free time to deliver the professional, structured training that is in place. Further colts are of course always welcome .

Whilst the clubs success was very much a team effort, individual awards were given in each age group to the following catagories: Best Bowler, Best Batsmen, Most Improved Player & Mike Burgess Player of the Season. Furthermore, the club has overall annual awards including The Charles Holroyd Scholarship, The Reg Gray (teamwork) Award, The Paul Tinworth (most improved colt) Award, The Bill Townley (promising young cricketer) Award and The Peter Griffiths (overall best colt) Award. The Bill Townley award was a new award this year in memory of Bill who died 2 years ago at the age of 92. He and his family played at KLCC over many years and were active social members thereafter. Pictured below is David Burnell, winner of the Bill Townley award accepting the prize from Mrs Townley, and Ben Joyce, winner of the overall Best Colt award picking up his prize from Nick Turner of Debenhams Ottaway, solicitors, who have generously sponsored klcc colts for the last 4 years.
